NJIT President Named Transportation Person of the Year

NEWARK, May 14 - The Regional Business Partnership (RBP) named New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) President Saul Fenster its "Transportation Person of the Year." The honor is given annually to a leader who has contributed to the development and maintenance of northeastern New Jersey's transportation infrastructure.

Fenster received the award during the RBP's awards breakfast on May 14 at The Newark Club, Newark.

"Dr. Saul Fenster has demonstrated a career-long dedication to innovations in transportation and to improvements to the city of Newark's infrastructure," said Barbara E. Kauffman, executive vice president of the RBP.

RBP's transportation committee looks at many of the major projects and scheduled improvements that will affect the economy and quality of life in New Jersey. The projects selected represent different modes of transportation, in recognition of the importance of an integrated transportation network.

Joseph Falbo, vice president of Parsons Brinckerhoff, and chair of the RBP's Transportation Committee said "This year's merit awards recognize individuals and agencies that demonstrated the resilience of the region's transportation system during two recent emergencies on September 11 and following the I-80 Denville Bridge accident. We were particularly pleased to salute the leaders responsible for ensuring mobility throughout the region."

AAA New Jersey, Booz Allen Hamilton, Maher Terminals, MARSH, Parsons Brinckerhoff, and Port Authority of New York & New Jersey sponsored the awards breakfast.

RBP provides its members with connections, information and advocacy that will enhance their business opportunities, strengthen the region's business infrastructure and revitalize the City of Newark.
