Sheila Wellington, the Nation’s Leading Advocate for Women In Business, To Speak at New Jersey Institute of Technology
WHO: Sheila Wellington, President of Catalyst, the premier non-profit research and advisory group working to advance women in business, will speak at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). The lecture is open to the public.
WHAT:Wellington, the author of Be Your Own Mentor (Random House, 2001), will reveal the unspoken rules of the workplace. She’ll discuss the secrets and savvy insights of top women from her book, which draws on Catalyst research and provides a step-by-step guide on how women can advance in business. Learn how to master the art of networking, create opportunities, manage your time and negotiate a better salary. She’ll discuss the success factors and barriers that women face in the business world, especially the obstacles faced by women of color, and the pivotal role that mentoring plays in success. Catalyst research shows that women are not being mentored as often as men, which leads to inequalities in the workplace.

WHERE:Weston Lecture Hall, at the intersection of Warren Street and Summit Street. The first 25 students to attend will be given free copies of Wellington’s book. Light refreshments will be served.
HOW:Catalyst, based in lower Manhattan, identifies barriers and opportunities for women executives and, through its consulting services, makes the case for diversity to corporations.
