WHAT:At a time when America is at war in the Middle East, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) hosts Arab Awareness Week – a celebration of Arabic culture, religion, history and science. The week, sponsored by the Arab Students Association, the Jewish Student Organization, the Christian Fellowship and the Muslim Students Association, bespeaks the civil diversity of the NJIT student body. Each day during the week of March 31 – April 4, students will set up tables that showcase aspects of Arab life.

WHO: NJIT students from the above groups will be available to talk to reporters.

WHERE:The events are held on the campus green or in the Hazell Student Center.

WHEN:

• Tuesday, April 1. Arab Religions Day: Christian, Jewish and Muslim students from NJIT will discuss how their religions express themselves in Arab countries: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., on the campus green.
  
  
• Wednesday, April 2. Arab History and Science Day: a celebration of Arab history, including the Ottoman Empire, as well as Arab contributions to math, astronomy and medicine: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., on the campus green.
  
  
• Thursday, April 3. Arab Jeopardy Contest and Bake Sale: The jeopardy questions will all be based on Arab culture. The bake sale will include Arab dessert classics such as baklava: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., at the Hazell Student Lounge.
  
  
• Friday, April 4. Arab Barbeque: A barbeque with an Arab-twist: shish kebob, hummus, pita bread and other staples of Arab cuisine will be served: 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Hazell Student Lounge.
