NEWARK, September 24--A group of Thailand’s best and brightest college students, along with six Thai officials and four journalists, will visit New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) on Thursday, Sept. 25. The visit, organized by the Thai Government, is intended to expose Thailand’s top college students to America’s best universities, companies and government agencies. The students will also visit Harvard, Stanford and Columbia universities, companies such as Du Pont, Lockheed Martin and Cisco as well as NASA. The trip offers the students a chance to gain invaluable international experience, said Sonthi Vannasaeng, minister-counselor of science and technology for the Royal Thai Embassy. It also allows the students a chance to gain cross-disciplinary educational perspectives, he said. The Thai contingent will arrive at NJIT on Thursday, at 9 a.m. They will spend the morning listening to NJIT professors explain their work in fields such as polymer research, materials science and pharmaceutical engineering. Beginning at 11: 15 a.m., the group will tour NJIT’s most celebrated labs including the Microelectronics Fabrication Facility, the Materials Characterization Laboratory and the Polymer Processing Institute.
