NEWARK, Feb. 20 -The deadline for accepting letters of application for the 2001 Women in Technology Leadership Awards has been extended through March 16, says Talina Knox. Knox is the program coordinator of the Murray Center for Women in Technology at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark.

The award honors outstanding female high school students in the tri-state area who have demonstrated a strong interest in math, science, and/or technology. Each school may enter two candidates. Strong candidates will have notable academic records in math, science, and/or technology, belong to clubs in these disciplines, will have participated in science fairs and competitions, produced innovative class projects and may have been previous achievement award winners.

Winners will be honored at a special dinner Monday, March 26 (5 p.m.-8 p.m.) at NJIT. Students may bring their parents and teachers to the dinner.
