State Employees Charitable Campaign Underway

All university employees are urged to contribute to the New Jersey State Employees Charitable Campaign (NJSECC). By now, you should have received a pledge card and a booklet listing all participating agencies. By contributing, you can:

  • Help the agencies that help you. If you've ever been to the hospital in New Jersey...if your child attends a non-profit day care center or participates in scouting or the "Y" ...if someone in your family suffers from diabetes or receives "Meals on Wheels," you may have benefited from NJSECC. The same goes for a host of other social services that help you, your family and community.
  • Support the causes you care about. If you want to do something about world hunger, domestic violence or medical research, look through the agency listing. You are certain to find an organization working to solve the problem you care about.
  • Know where your dollars go. NJSECC provides accountability. The State of New Jersey screens all participating agencies. Overhead is limited by law to 10 percent, which is lower than most similar combined campaigns, including United Way.
  • Reach hundreds of hard-working agencies with the stroke of a pen. With NJSECC, you can make a single donation of cash or check, or you can spread your donation throughout the year by paycheck deduction.
  • Do something really important -- for less than a dollar a week. If you haven't given before, consider donating $1 per paycheck. This enables you to designate your donation to the agency you choose.

Contributions should be sent to the Office of Communications, 12 Eberhardt Hall. If you need a pledge card or booklet, or have any questions about NJSECC, contact Joe Harkins, ext. 3438.
