Explore New Frontiers in India's Telecom Industry in Newark



The New Jersey Technology Council, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the USDOC Office in Newark were happy to announce that a delegation of Indian Telcom Executives visited New Jersey on December 18th and met with Telcom executives who were interested in learning more about the Telcom sector in India as well as doing business on the sub-continent. A roundtable discussion was held in Room 3710 of the Guttenberg Information Technology Center, New Jersey Institute of Technology from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Members of the delegation included:

Bharat Bhushan Anand
Recently resigned as director in the department of telecommunications, (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India after working there for over 21 years. During his tenure with the DoT, Mr. Anand dealt with licensing, interconnect and regulatory issues of basic, cellular, national long distance and infrastructure provider, etc. Mr. Anand also advised the government on import and export of telecom equipment and services, custom duty and excise duties structures. He is currently a telecom consultant and also vice-chairman of the organizing committee of Supercomm Asia 2002 to be held in New Delhi this coming February.

Mr. Sandeep Maini, Senior Commercial Specialist, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi
Mr. Maini has over 14 years of substantive experience with the U.S. Commercial Service. All told, he has facilitated over $600 million in U.S. direct export sales for U.S. companies competing on major project contracts. He has successfully advanced U.S. commercial interests on behalf of AT&T, Lucent, Hewlett Packard, Motorola, EDS, and many small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Mr. Rajan Sharma, Managing Director of Interads Limited, an Indian advertising firm, will be co-organizing SuperComm Asia 2002.
