Acting Associate Provost Announced

Donald Sebastian, the university's executive director of the Center for Manufacturing Systems (CMS), has been named acting associate provost for research and development.

In 1995, Sebastian joined NJIT as a professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering. He will continue to serve as executive director of CMS.

Industrial And Manufacturing Engineering Chair Named

Athanassios Bladikas has been appointed chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and acting director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Transportation. Bladikas joined NJIT in 1988 and has devoted much of his time to educational activities and research with the Institute for Transportation.

Particle Technology Center Director Announced

Robert Pfeffer, distinguished professor of chemical engineering with research interests in fluid-particle systems, has been named director of NJIT's Center for Particle Technology. Pfeffer has been at NJIT since 1992, when he served as vice president for research and graduate studies.

Acting Chair Appointed In Civil And Environmental Engineering

John Schuring will serve as the acting chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Since joining NJIT in 1982, Schuring has been involved with integrating pneumatic fracturing with other in-situ technologies including bioremediation, reactive decholorination, vitrification and ultrasound.

Acting Executive Director Named For CEES

Peter Lederman has been appointed acting executive director of the university's Center for Environmental Engineering and Science. Lederman joined NJIT in 1993 and has more than 40 years of experience in environmental management, control and policy development. He also serves as executive director of patents and licensing for the university.
