This year the keynote address will be given by Alice E. White.

Alice WhiteAlice E. White is Vice President, Bell Labs North America, the largest R&D location of Alcatel-Lucent.   Dr. White has a broad technical background in experimental solid state physics and optics, including fabrication and implementation of optical fiber devices and integrated optical components for optical networks, semiconductor processing and devices, ion beam interactions with solids, and low temperature and vacuum techniques, with over 120 publications.  She holds a B.A. degree in physics from Middlebury College and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Harvard University.  An active member of the American Physical Society (APS) and the Optical Society of America, she was elected Councilor-at-Large for the APS (1993) and was one of the founding members of the Forum on Industrial and Applied Physics (FIAP) of the APS.  Dr. White is the recipient of the 1991 Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award from the APS and became a Fellow of the APS in 1995.  More recently, she was recognized with the prestigious Bell Labs Fellow Award.   She has served on the Advisory Board of NJIT’s Murray Center for Women in Technology since 2004.
