M.S. Telecommunications

Telecommunications, one of the fastest growing fields in engineering, is central to such diverse professions as banking, smart grids and corporate networks, to name a few. NJIT’s master’s program in Telecommunications prepares students to specialize in one or more areas of telecommunications, such as wireless communications, data and computer networking, signal processing and digital communications. The Telecommunications program is based on a synergistic blending of existing electrical, computer engineering and computer science skills. It has a technical and scientific focus with a rich selection of electives and specializations, including basic communications, data structures, computer architecture, signals and systems, and network security.

Summary

Our Telecommunications master’s program is expected to enhance and enrich student skills and knowledge in a diverse set of communication technologies and sciences. The program offers students a wide scope of study and flexibility for specialization in a range of industry areas, including areas related to the protocol stack of data communications. Graduates will understand, manage, design and build communications systems for a diverse set of applications and needs of communications.

Master’s students in NJIT’s Telecommunications program are prepared for diverse fields and will work as specialists in areas such as telephony, long-range communications, and data networks while gaining expertise in different disciplines related to telecommunications.

They should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a broad technical expertise in communications, data networks, and other electives through successful coursework and achievement on exams and projects.
  • Communicate research outcomes to the scientific community through oral presentations and written work, including your thesis and conference presentations.
  • Function on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Apply knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to identify, formulate and solve problems.
  • Communicate effectively.
