“Embracing Diversity in Learning:
The Challenge for Engineering Education”
The Spring 2007 conference of the ASEE Mid-Atlantic Section will take place at New Jersey Institute of Technology [ http://www.njit.edu/ ] on April 13 and 14, 2007. The theme of the conference is related to all aspects of diversity (gender, race, learning styles, cultural and ethnic background, etc.) and its implications for engineering education. The conference will feature a plenary presentation on the theme as well as a presentation/focus group on the characteristics of the millennial generation and their implications for engineering education. During the conference, the dialogue on engineering education research, called for at the ASEE national meeting in Chicago (June 2006) and initiated within the Mid-Atlantic Section at the Fall 2006 conference (November 2006), will also continue with a speaker/workshop. In addition to the plenary presentations and workshops, the conference will involve technical sessions for presentations by attendees.
Call for Abstracts: You are invited to submit abstracts on topics to be considered for presentation at the technical sessions of the conference. Although abstracts on topics related to the conference theme and engineering education research are particularly encouraged, this is a general call for abstracts on all topics related to engineering and engineering technology education.
Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail as attachments in MS Word format. Abstract size should be 500 words or less. After review, authors will be notified of acceptance and invited to submit a full paper to be included in CD-ROM conference proceedings as well as published in a newly established Mid-Atlantic Section Conference Proceedings web site. Instructions for paper preparation are posted on the conference web page.
