Welcome to NJIT! We of Academic and Student Services have a mission:
To enroll highly qualified students, establish a highly positive and supportive university climate, and provide academic services for the development and retention of students in undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs. Along with the academic departments, we have recruited and enrolled you to NJIT because we believe you have the interest and ability to succeed at NJIT, and you typically want a rewarding college experience. We know from conversations with students that came before you as well as those currently enrolled that you will experience many opportunities and possibly some challenges to your success while at NJIT, some of these may be personal, financial, or academic.
To help you engage the opportunities and meet those challenges and to enrich your "NJIT Experience," we have assembled a group of very talented professionals who provide services and programs for you and with you. Working closely with the NJIT faculty, staff, student leaders and organizations such as the Student Senate and Graduate Student Association, we continuously seek to improve the "NJIT Experience" for you.
Academic and Student Services includes (for more detailed information, click on each title listed below):
Enrollment Services, including Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Admissions, Registrar and Financial Aid;
Center for First Year Students, assists new students (freshman and transfer) to succeed academically. Programs and services designed to help students adjust to a new academic environment;
Dean of Students, offering cultural, social and leadership programming, as well as residential life, Greek life, counseling, health, and tutorial services;
Career Development Services, including coops, internships, community service, on-campus and post-baccalaureate and post-graduate education employment;
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), to insure those New Jersey Students who may be under-prepared and having financial hardship access to resources and services to help them succeed;
Albert Dorman Honors College, offering high achieving students an enriched and individualized program;
Physical Education and Athletics, featuring NCAA Division I Athletics, fitness and sport classes, intramural, recreation and club sport opportunities;
Continuing and Professional Education, including distance learning opportunities for currently enrolled as well on-site corporate education and training;
Pre-College programming, to encourage and educate K-12 students to continue onto higher education, particularly those who are underrepresented in the science, mathematics, engineering, and technology professions. Staff development opportunities are also available for k-12 educators.
