Favorite movie:
The Devil Wears Prada

Favorite music:
Some of my favorite music is techno-pop such as Benny Benassi. But I also listen to R&B like Mariah Carey. Every now and then I like classic rock like REO Speedwagon and America.

Favorite websites:
I like to visit Facebook, watch vlogs on YouTube, play on iSketch, listen to Pandora and participate on the Sims Resource.

Why NJIT?
NJIT is a top-ranked engineering school; it’s in a city and in the NY metropolitan area. I love the sight of skylines and NJIT has two: Newark’s and Manhattan’s. I also love using the subways and, in general, the rush of city life.

Why chemical engineering?
Chemical engineering is very broad, and with this degree I can still choose what concentration is best for me. Initially, I intended to apply for an art major at another university, but I felt that creativity could not simply be graded and judged. I learned that engineering is not limited to math and science; one could also design and essentially engineer new products or methods, which is also creative.

Favorite class:
My favorite class was the Fundamental Engineering Design course for chemical engineers. We built an air and water system out of PVC pipes, tubes, pumps and other materials. It was great to do such a fun, hands-on activity. Initially, when I enrolled in the class I was upset because it lasted three hours straight. But looking back, I wish the class had lasted the entire day.

What’s best at NJIT?
The best thing about NJIT is that there are so many opportunities. I participate in many community services and volunteer for every special event that I can. There are so many clubs and organizations that are perfect for the time in between classes. I can honestly say that I put so much into the university. But I’ve received so much in return through experiences, leadership, teamwork and support.

Clubs and activities:
Coming to NJIT, I never thought I’d be a member of sorority. But while here I found a sorority that fits me perfectly. I am also a part of the Bemani Gamer’s Association, and I’ve recently been elected the club’s secretary and public-relations officer. Bemani is a genre for video games such as the ever-popular DDR and Guitar Hero. Also, as a campus resident I felt it was important to be active in our Residence Hall Association, for which I am the former vice president and the newly elected national communications coordinator. I am also a summer resident assistant at Laurel Hall, a residence hall at NJIT. Last year I was a group leader for Miniversity and this year I’m a Connections Coordinator for First-Year Connections Miniversity.

Favorite Book:
My favorite assigned book was A Brave New World, but I prefer to leisurely watch the film versions of most novels.

Greatest Accomplishment:
My greatest accomplishment was discovering my identity and the many hidden potential talents I possess. I remember being in high school thinking about what I would eventually become. Back then, I could not imagine what I would do with my life. But after coming to NJIT and getting involved and connecting to so many people, I found myself and defined my interests.

Interests in High School:
In high school I started a club called the Anime Society, and what made it special was that I didn't limit it to my high school; I opened the club to my local library and we had memberships from other high schools in the surrounding counties.

Why Connections Miniversity?
As soon as I was accepted to NJIT, the first invitation I received was to come to Miniversity. That visit made me anxious and excited about what the campus had to offer. After sleeping over that one night during Miniversity, I convinced my parents that living on campus would be best for me. Ever since that first good experience as an incoming freshman, I wanted to be a part of Miniversity.

Favorite places at NJIT:
The third floor terrace of the campus center is the perfect place for a tan, a picnic and peace and quiet. I like to do my homework there when it is not too windy. From the terrace, you can look out onto the green and see everyone else hanging out before or after their classes. I also love the skywalk -- a bridge that connects the Campus Center and Fenster Hall. It has cafe tables that are perfect for morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Career goal:
I'm considering working for the cosmetics industry, where I’d develop products such as shampoos and conditioners. I have long hair and, as pretty as it is, it is difficult to maintain. I would love to engineer products that I could use to control my hair.
