Your To-Do List - Spring 2019
Confirm your enrollment
Confirm your intent to enroll at NJIT with a $250 tuition deposit by December 1. You can submit the deposit online at tuitiondeposit.njit.edu.
Access Highlander Pipeline:
- Create Your UCID - njit.edu/ucidaccount
- Access your Highlander Pipeline account - my.njit.edu. This is your campus portal for viewing financial aid, course registration, and other important services.
- Set-up your NJIT email account - webmail.njit.edu. Your NJIT email address will be the official method of communication for all correspondence from the university.
- Review the New Student Computing Guide - ist.njit.edu/new-student-computing-guide/. Learn about NJIT computer requirements as well as technology services and resources for students.
File the FAFSA
If you have not done so already, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. Be sure to list NJIT as your top choice. NJIT’s federal school code is 002621. Start your FAFSA at fafsa.gov/.
Submit Your Official Transcript
If you have not done so already, please submit all college-level credits you have earned to the Office of University Admissions. We will evaluate your transfer credits and provide you with a transfer credit evaluation via your Highlander Pipeline account.
Meet with Your Advisor
After your transfer credit evaluation is visible in Highlander Pipeline, meet with an advisor to review your transfer credit and receive help with course selection and registration for the upcoming semester. To sign-up for academic advisement, visit Advising & Registration at njit.edu/advising/advising-registration/.
Register for the NJIT Placement Exam
If you have not completed English Composition, Pre-Calculus or Calculus, you will need to take a placement exam. Please contact placement testing at 973-596-8389 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Apply for Housing
NJIT offers a vibrant, engaging on-campus living environment. A wide array of living options including suites, semi-suites, private bedrooms plus study lounges, game rooms and kitchens are available. Submit a request online at njit.edu/reslife.
Attend Transfer Orientation
Attend Transfer Orientation to learn more about NJIT resources, services and campus life. Orientation will take place in early January. Learn more and register at njit.edu/transferorientation.
Once You Deposit, What’s Next?
Accept Your Financial Aid Awards
Financial aid awards are sent to all students who filed a FAFSA. Students must review and accept their awards through their Highlander Pipeline account - my.njit.edu.
Submit Health Information
Complete the required Student Health Packet at njit.edu/healthpacket. All documents must be submitted to the Office of Health Services no later than January 15. All students are required to have health insurance. If you are already insured with a policy that meets specific requirements, you can request to waive NJIT's health insurance. Information is available at njit.edu/healthinsurance.
Get Your NJIT Photo ID
After you have registered for courses, reach out to the Security Systems, Photo Identification and Parking Services Department in the Laurel Hall Extension (131 Summit Street) to get your NJIT Photo ID.
Get a Parking Permit
If you plan to park on campus, complete the Student Parking Registration form. Go to njit.edu/parking to access the form and additional information.
Select a Meal Plan
Meal plan options for both commuter and resident students can be found at njit.edu/mealplans. To request a Commuter Meal Plan, contact Gourmet Dining Services (email@example.com) or Residence Life (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Pay Your Tuition Bill
All invoices are available to you via your Highlander Pipeline account and statements are sent via email to your NJIT email address. Tuition payment for the semester is due on Wednesday, January 16. Information about payment options can be found at njit.edu/bursar.
