Classes from 1930 to 1939
NCE in the 1930's:
- The Newark College of Technology was renamed Newark College of Engineering in 1930.
- Allan Cullimore was NCE's president during the 1930's.
- During the Depression, NCE emerged as a “school of opportunity,” dedicated to giving talented young people access to higher education regardless of their economic circumstances.
- The college’s co-op program was greatly expanded during the Depression, making it possible for many students to earn the money needed to remain in school.
