NCE CLASS OF 1938
FLYING THE COLORS FOR OUR CLASS
Three of us-- Ted Feuerbach, Elton Tuohig, and Paul Schwartz, traveled up to Newark from the DC area to participate in our 70th NCE Class Reunion on the weekend of June 7th, 2008. We had the time of our lives. Not only was it super-special to be together again, but it was also terrific to be with NCE alumni from other classes.
As representatives of the most senior class at the reunion, we were treated like royalty. Everyone, from President Bob Altenkirch (pictured above with us) and his wife Beth to the students who worked at the reunion made us feel special. We had a great time swapping “then and now” comparisons, especially with the students, who were fascinated by our stories.
Two of us—Elton and Paul—stayed in the dorms. That was a great treat, since we’d never done that during our college years. We were amazed to see how good the students have it these days; we were very comfortable. In fact, we just couldn’t get over the changes that have taken place all over campus, from the sparkling modern campus center and the elegantly restored Eberhardt Hall to the beautiful landscaping and athletic facilities—18 buildings on 7 acres. Quite a change from our day.
We were busy from the time we arrived on Friday until we left after breakfast on Sunday morning with parties, meals, academic presentations and tours. The high point was the Reunion Dinner Dance on Saturday night, which was very elegantly done.
By the time we said our goodbyes on Sunday morning we were, admittedly, a little tired, but thrilled to have had that wonderful experience.
