Our 50th Reunion
May 17-19, 2013
If we had to pick the best thing about the our 50th Reunion on NJIT Alumni Weekend, we would be hard pressed. Probably it would be the special experience of spending time with people who knew you when you were young. There was also the tremendous pride in seeing what our alma mater has become: an up-to-date university with six colleges on a handsome 40 acre campus.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing student exhibits and attending a lecture from one of the university's most distinguished professors. There was the endless food and drink (all of it excellent), a chance to dance for those of us who were so inclined, and the opportunity to mix with alumni of all ages, even some newly minted alumni.
We owe a lot to a few good men who pushed hard to get so many of us to show up. The Sigma Pi Brothers showed up in force once their beloved Advisor, Mal Simon, lit a fire under them. Some things never change.
For some of us, it was a life-changing experience. Jim Cudahy, for instance, by his own account, spent his whole life thinking he couldn't dance until his new friends from the Student Hospitality Team taught him differently.
Spending time with the students, who took such care of us, was really a treat. They actually LIKED our stories. Who doesn't love a good audience?
There were many good reasons to be there. It was an experience not to be missed. Many thanks to the people who worked so hard to make it happen.
