On the weekend of May 21-23, 2010 our class will celebrate our 40th Anniversary Class Reunion on the university campus. This is a milestone event, and from all reports, each class that comes to Reunion has a terrific time.
The reunion weekend will encompass every class that has graduated in a year ending in “5” or “0”, beginning with the class of 1940 and ending with the class of 2005. It will offer a tour of the new campus, department visits and academic presentations, good parties, the fun of reuniting with classmates and an opportunity to talk with faculty, students and alumni of all ages. It all gets capped off on Saturday night with a first class dinner party and a seven piece band.
Amazing changes have taken place on the campus since we graduated. If you haven’t been back within the last five years, we can promise it will make you feel like Rip Van Winkle. Our old NCE campus has grown to 40 acres. There’s a striking new student center, several dorms, a bell tower, a modern athletic center, and beautifully landscaped green spaces all over campus. The old Eberhardt Hall has been restored to 1880’s elegance and is now the Eberhardt Hall Alumni Center and home of the University Club.
If the thought of walking all over campus is not how you want to see all the changes, there are other options at your disposal. The Office of Alumni Relations has a golf cart, and a cheerful student will drive you anywhere you want to go. All of the buildings have elevators, and the facilities are all handicapped accessible. We hear from our predecessors that the students and staff did an outstanding job of attending to everyone’s needs.
Planning for the reunion has already begun, and a brochure with all the information will be in your hands in late January.
You should already have received the Reunion Questionnaire in the mail. If you haven’t already done so, please fill it out. It will be of great help in our planning. You can email it as an attachment to alumni@njit.edu or mail it to:
Office of Alumni Relations/Eberhardt Hall/ 323 Martin Luther King Boulevard/ Newark, NJ 07102
We hope to see you on the weekend of May 21st, 2010.
