Classes from 1970 to 1979
In the 1970's, NJIT saw:
- The New Jersey School of Architecture was founded in 1973.
- In September 1974, the Board of Trustees approved changing the name to New Jersey Institute of Technology, effective January 1, 1975.
- Saul K. Fenster was named the university's sixth president in 1978.
- NJIT's first residence hall -- Redwood Hall -- opened in 1979.
