Job Description:
General Description: The GHO works to improve resources available for energy efficient residential buildings. The Intern will work mainly on the Green Buildings Cost Comparison project described below, which will be completed by the end of the internship. Developers of affordable housing are increasingly required to include green building measures as a condition of state funding. Knowing the actual cost of green building will enable HMFA and developers to set construction budgets accordingly. The other project listed below will start either during down time or when the first is completed. The intern will create summary documents that illustrate the green features of completed green affordable housing developments. These will be posted on the website as a resource. The GHO is looking into developing an online interactive database of green building professionals. The intern will likely confirm references and credential - and will assist with online layout/design. Attend NJ office of Clean Energy Committee Meetings with GHO staff. This will provide the intern with an insight into where the state is heading for statewide energy efficiency, renewable energy and green building programs and provide him/her an opportunity to make connections.
