Student Scholar Raiha Khan ’19
Ever since she was introduced to the potential of computer science in high school through her AP Computer Science class, Raiha has been passionate about encouraging women to participate in STEM careers, and she uses her platform as president of NJIT's Women in Computing Society to advocate for gender diversity in today's computing workforce.
Raiha is devoted to giving back to her community, as she has been heavily involved with Girls Who Code, a nonprofit organization dedicated that runs summer programs and school clubs which teach computing and programming skills to high school girls. She also is the editor-in-chief of the Albert Dorman Honors College Newsletter, a publication released every semester that details the variety of activities occurring at the Honors College and highlights the accomplishments of Honors students.
Raiha is a recipient of the 2017 Anne Wiley Female Diversity in STEM Award, NJIT Faculty Scholarship, Honors College Scholarship, ADHC for Women Endowed Scholarship, Gilbert W. Glass Leadership Fund Scholarship, Federal Pell Grant and NJ TAG Grant.
Since June 2017, Raiha has been interning as a data solutions developer on the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) team at New York Life Insurance Company, where she is working on predictive modeling for different for the investments and insurance sides of the business. After graduation, Raiha plans to continue her career in data science and earn her master’s degree in statistics.
