More than ever before, building design and construction can be significantly improved upon to reduce the devastating effects of hurricanes and earthquakes on residential and commercial structures. NJIT Professor Rima Taher teaches courses on ways to improve design and construction practices in locations prone to such natural disasters. She has recently accepted an invitation from Architecture for Humanity (AFH) to join other architects and engineers in creating a construction guide which can be used as a resource for builders as they begin reconstruction efforts in Haiti.
