Mitchell Gayer joins NJIT as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, effective March 28, 2016. He brings over twenty years of EHS and higher education experience including having served as the former Deputy Director of the Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute (GTBI) at New Jersey Medical School.
Prior to working at GTBI, Mitchell held various administrative and research management positions at the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), served as Occupational Hygienist, Biological Safety Officer, and Laboratory Safety Manager for the Rutgers Environmental Health and Safety Department (REHS) and held various health and safety positions at several institutions in NYC.
Mitchell earned an MPH degree in Environmental Science at the Columbia University School of Public Health and an MS degree in Environmental and Occupational Health at CUNY’s Hunter College and an undergraduate degree is in Agriculture from the University of Georgia.
