Q. How do I change my withholdings for federal and/or state taxes?Back to Top
A. Complete a W-4 Form and submit to Payroll, Fenster Hall, Room 540.
     Complete forms pertaining to your state of residency (forms) and submit to Payroll.

 

Q. Where do I pick up my check?Back to Top
A. Payroll checks are distributed every two weeks (schedule) via the Check Distribution Window in Fenster Hall, 555. Please bring photo ID. Checks not picked up will be mailed to the address on file.

 

Q. What are the office hours?Back to Top
A. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

 

Q. I do not reside in New Jersey.  Do I still have to pay New Jersey State Taxes?Back to Top
A. Yes, New Jersey State Law states if you work in New Jersey you have to pay taxes in New Jersey. You do, however, have the option of withholding additional taxes for New York or Pennsylvania (forms)

 

Q. How do I enroll in Direct Deposit?Back to Top
A. You must fill out an Employee Direct Deposit Enrollment Form and return with required documentation to Payroll Office.

 

Q. When does Direct Deposit take affect?Back to Top
A. It takes two weeks for direct deposit to become active.

 

Q. Can I split my check into multiple accounts?Back to Top
A. Yes. You can have multiple accounts.

 

Q. What do I do if I never received or lost a check?Back to Top
A. Fill out a Stop Payment Memorandum. A replacement check will be issued within two weeks.

 

Q. How do I acquire approver access for web time entry?Back to Top
A. Send an email with your UCID, ORGN and proxy to payroll@njit.edu. Hourly employees cannot receive access.

 

Q. Commuter Tax Save ProgramsBack to Top
NJIT offers two commuter Tax Save Programs. Enrolling in either of these programs may provide tax savings of up to 35% up to $255.00 per month for 2017.

NJ Transit - You may purchase your NJ TRANSIT bus, rail, light rail monthly pass through payroll deductions by filling out a Business Pass Enrollment Form and returning it to Payroll.

Transitchek for employees traveling on other States’ Transit Systems -
It’s very easy to use and manage you just have to log into www.transitchek.com and enroll yourself.

Q.  How do I receive my current W-2 earnings statement?Back to Top
A. Per IRS regulations, W-2s are available via Banner Self Service no later than January 31st of the following year. If you have not consented to receive your W-2 via the internet or have separated from the university, a hard copy will be mailed to your permanent address on file.

 

Q. What do I do if I have misplaced, lost or require a copy of my W-2 earnings statement?Back to Top
A. Active employees may print their W-2s via Banner Self Service.  Separated employees must send an email request to Payroll@njit.edu.
