About International Education Week (IEW):

IEW is an annual event created and promoted by the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education since 2000. It is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

At NJIT, IEW is coordinated by the Office of Global Initiatives. 



Monday, November 13

What: Scholars at Risk Colloquium: Dr. Teng Biao

Dr. Teng Biao is a human rights lawyer, formerly a lecturer at the China University of Politics and Law, a visiting scholar at Harvard, Yale Law School, and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and currently a visiting scholar at New York University. His academic research includes criminal justice, human rights, social movement and political transition in China. He will be speaking about issues of freedom of speech and self-censorship. Tuesday, November 14

What: International Career Day

A day dedicated to informing international students of their employment options after graduation and discussing how to use their unique vision of the world as an international student to their benefit when navigating the job market. Featuring different sessions and special guest speakers throughout the day. 

This event is being co-sponsored with Career Development Services. 


  • 12:00 - 1:00 (Ballroom A)  Beyond OPT: H1B visa and your rights as an employee. (Lunch will be served, first come first served). Immigration attorney Ludka Zimovcak Esq. will speak to students about the transition from OPT to H1B and their legal rights as employees.
  • 1:30 - 2:30 (CKB 116)  Preparing for a job: Social media strategies to help your job hunting. Learn how to use LinkedIn and other social media to network, find a job and build a career. Make sure your resume stands out from the rest by using tricks and tips from the marketing trade to get found and land the job you're looking for. Hosted by Mr. William Scheckel, a professional with over 25 years of experience in the B2B technology industry. He has contributed to the branding efforts of many of the world's leading brands, including SAP, IBM, Shell, and Deutsche Bank.
  • 3:00 - 4:00  (CKB 116) Been there, done that: International Student Success Stories (alumni panel). A panel of former NJIT international students who successfully navigated the job market and landed jobs in their fields will be in attendance to talk about their experience and what they learned. This Q & A session will allow current students to ask as many questions as they wish to these former F-1 students.

Wednesday, November 15

What: Study Abroad Fair

Interested in studying abroad? Stop by our fair to talk to OGI advisers, NJIT students who studied abroad and exchange students from partner schools. Study abroad providers will also be on site to answer your questions.

When: 11:30 am -2:00 pm.

Thursday, November 16

What: 1st Annual Global Photo Contest

A chance to enjoy and vote for your favorite photo. Deadline for photo submission is October 31st. Exciting prizes for the best photos!! Click here for more information regarding the contest, how to submit your photo, and more.

Join Sanskar, Chinese Undergrad Student Association (CUSA), Global Brigades, and the Saudi Student Club for a unique cultural exchange!

What: Celebrate Diwali with Sanskar!  

Join Sanskar for a night of singing, dancing, food and much more. Ethnic wear preferred. Open to all NJIT students.
