How can I get a graduate catalog prior to submitting a graduate application?

- Fall Semester (September): Financial Support Consideration - January 15. All other Applicants - June 5
- Spring Semester (January): Financial Support Consideration - November 15. All other Applicants - November 15
How long will it take to process my application?
Your application will be reviewed as soon as all required documents arrive. You must request an official transcript from your undergraduate institution to be mailed directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions. International students must submit original or duly attested transcripts and letters of recommendation. Test score reports must be received directly from ETS using the university code 2513.
Will NJIT accept photocopies of my transcripts or documents?
NJIT will not accept photocopies or student copies of any required documents needed to complete your application.
Can I apply to several degree programs at the same time?
Applicants can apply to only one degree program.
How can I find out the status of my application?
Please allow at least two to three weeks for your materials to arrive. You will receive written notification from the Office of Graduate Admissions informing you of any missing documentation. You may also inquiry via e-mail email@example.com or https://www.njit.edu/gadmission.
Can you tell me if I have been accepted over the phone?
Admission decisions cannot be released over the phone because we cannot verify the identity of the caller. All admission decisions are provided in writing directly to the applicant.
What are the policies on changing from one program to another?
Students can apply for a department transfer after completing one full year in their enrolled program by submitting a formal application and fee. The new academic department will then review the application.
Can I take courses before being admitted into a graduate program?
Students are permitted to register for up to 9 credits of non-matriculated coursework with the written approval of the academic department.
International students on F-1 or J-1 visas are not permitted to register as non-matriculated students.
Can I authorize a friend to be responsible for my application process?
You can have a friend inquire about missing documentation however, admission decisions are provided in writing directly to the applicant.
What are the TOEFL, GRE and GMAT requirements?
The minimum TOEFL score requirement is 550 (Paper Based) or 213 (Computer Based). The individual academic departments determine the required GRE and GMAT scores.

Assistantships and Financial Aid
How do I apply for financial aid?
All applicants are automatically considered for financial support by the academic department at the time of admission. There is no separate form required.
What other forms of financial assistantships are available at NJIT?
Limited graduate assistantships are available through the Office of Graduate Studies annually to enrolled students. Please feel free to view the financial support and graduate awards web page.
When will I receive my I-20?
Visa eligibility forms are released once a student has been formally admitted to NJIT and has submitted appropriate financial documentation.
Where will my I-20 be mailed?
Your I-20 will be mailed to the permanent address listed on your application.
