The PhD in Mathematical Sciences at NJIT is a highly interdisciplinary program that provides students with training in applied mathematics, statistics, and computing for real-world problems in science and engineering.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) is a research and teaching department in the College of Science and Liberal Arts at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Our 36 tenured and tenure-track faculty work closely with doctoral students on a range of topics within the fields of applied mathematics and applied statistics, developing new analytical and computational tools to study problems in fluid dynamics, materials science, wave propagation, mathematical biology, neuroscience, and biostatistics.
DMS offers two tracks in its Doctoral Program in the Mathematical Sciences: the Applied Mathematics track,
Teaching Assistant stipends that pay $24,000 per academic year in addition to full tuition and fees are available, as well as support for summer research.
