About the Fund

You may have already heard about the Highlanders Athletics Campaign, a two-year effort to raise funds necessary to upgrade selected athletics facilities and increase the amount of money available for athletic scholarships. Today, I'm responsible for the new Highlander Athletic Fund, which is dedicated to enhancing the experience of all NJIT students through continuing, long-term financial support for the Department of Athletics.

There are many reasons to support sports and athletic activities at the university level. Successful inter-collegiate sports teams raise a school's regional and national profiles, calling attention to the school among a larger applicant pool, often more successfully that other types of promotion. Athletics facilities are visual focal points of a university's campus and serve the entire collegiate community in terms of intramural and recreational sports as well as personal physical fitness.

The Highlander Athletic Fund will help to increase athletic scholarships, recruit the best and brightest student-athletes, renovate and enhance campus athletic facilities, and augment current team budgets. Another aim of the fund is to bring together alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the university for athletic events and social occasions such as the Athletic Awards Banquet, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Scholar-Athlete Day and annual golf outing.

Consider becoming a member of the team by supporting the Highlander Athletic Fund, either with a contribution or as a volunteer to help organize activities that I know you will enjoy. It's a really good idea.

Sincerely,

Lenny Kaplan
