What is the Highlander Athletic Fund?
Highlander Athletic Fund is the athletic fund-raising organization at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Financial contributions designated for the Highlander Athletic Fund are used to support the university's 200 student-athletes who compete in 15 varsity sports by providing funding support for individual sports, generating new athletics scholarships, for renovations and expansion of athletics facilities.
In addition, allowing for major athletics projects not included in the athletics department's annual operating budget.
- Men's Varsity: Baseball, Basketball, Cross-Country, Fencing, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball
- Women's Varsity: Basketball, Cross-Country, Fencing, Soccer, Swimming, Tennis, and Volleyball
- Club Sport: Track and Field
- Highlander Scholarships: Annual and Endowed
What type of activities are sponsored by the Highlander Athletic Fund members?
Highlander Athletic Fund members sponsor activities that bring together alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends of the university for athletic contests, special events and social occasions.
Through contributions to the Highlander Athletic Fund, members play an essential role in the growth and development of the university's intercollegiate athletics program and support of student-athletes.
What are the benefits of membership?
Highlander Athletic Fund benefits vary depending on the level of giving but may include our electronic newsletter, VIP parking, athletics merchandise and apparel, coaches' luncheons, and other special event invitations exclusive to Highlander Athletic members.
For many, the most important benefit of being a member of "The Highlanders" is knowing that you have played a key role in the continuing advancement of NJIT Athletics Program's long and distinguished athletics history. Complete list of benefits.
Does the Highlander Athletic Fund accept corporate matching gifts?
Yes, many corporations have programs that can double or even triple the impact of your gift. Please check with your employer to file the appropriate documentation.
Can I designate my gift to a particular sport?
Yes, Gifts can be designated to the following:
- General support of athletics.
Gifts to the General Fund help meet the operating needs of our entire sports program. - Specific gifts to varsity sports.
Gifts to anyone of our (15) varsity sports goes directly int the respective coach's budget. - Highlander Athletic Scholarships.
Athletic Scholarship gifts will allow our coaches to recruit the best and brightest student-athletes from around the globe.
Can I give a gift of appreciated securities to Highlander Athletic Fund?
Yes, the most efficient way to transfer securities to Highlander Athletic Fund is broker to broker.
If your stock is held by a broker, notify him or her that you wish to make a gift of securities to Highlander Athletic Fund. Your broker will need written authorization from you before a transfer is made. Be sure to provide the name of the stock that you want to transfer, the number of shares, and indicate that you would like your gift to be designated to the Highlander Athletic Fund at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
