CHAPTER 13. NJIT RELATED EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

This chapter addresses Standard 13 of the Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education: Related Educational Activities.

Extending the analysis offered in Chapter 12, NJIT’s focus on students includes the following related educational activities: systematic procedures for identifying students who are not fully prepared for college level study in mathematics and communication; continuing professional education; alignment of non-degree certificate programs with the institutional mission; design and use of non-credit offerings consistent with NJIT’s mission; use of MSCHE approved branch campus at Beijing University of Technology to extend learning opportunities; experiential learning activities; and analysis of the ways in which distance learning courses meet institution-wide standards—for quality of instruction, articulated expectations of student learning, academic rigor, and educational effectiveness—in accordance with the 2011 MSCHE Interregional Guidelines for the Evaluation of Distance Education Programs (Online Learning).
