CHAPTER 2: NJIT PLANNING, RESOURCE ALLOCATION, AND INSTITUTIONAL RENEWAL

This chapter addresses Standard 2 of the Characteristics of Excellence in Higher Education: Planning, Resource Allocation, and Institutional Renewal.

Strategic planning at NJIT is an ongoing process intended to enable the university to reaffirm its core values and execute its mission.  Strategic planning allows the university to align its institutional efforts, especially with respect to resource allocation and renewal, around specific objectives.  NJIT’s commitment to planning, resource allocation, and institutional renewal is substantial; as such, the university’s methods for determining resource allocation are well-articulated, attending to synergies that exist between resource allocation and planning.  The university community also attends to the relationships and channels of communication between planning at the institutional level and planning at the level of the academic units, especially in terms of stated institutional and academic unit goals.
