Be Safe From Outsourcing:
Keep your skills current
Thomas Friedman, Pulitzer Prize winner and author of The World Is Flat, says that workers who are really adaptable and constantly acquire new skills are not likely to be outsourced and replaced. The Society for Technical Communication advises, “Get your graduate degree. There’s no better way to plug into what’s going on in the field than to go to graduate school. Your professors, and some of your classmates, will be researchers who are shaping the future of the field” (Murphy, M. intercom. 2/07:7)
