Verizon Executive Veronica Pellizzi of Ridgewood Appointed to NJIT Board of Overseers
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has appointed Veronica Pellizzi, of Ridgewood, senior vice president of sales for Verizon Enterprise Solutions Group, to the NJIT Board of Overseers. The NJIT Board of Overseers works to give the university national and international recognition by supporting and encouraging research, establishing fellowships and scholarships and facilitating fund-raising for the benefit of the university’s academic programs.
Pellizzi’s unit is responsible for managing the design, operation and maintenance of integrated network solutions for large business and government customers across the United States. She is responsible for the development and execution of sales strategies for Verizon’s top business and government customers. Prior to her current position, Pellizzi served as group president for Internet and data services. Under her leadership, Verizon’s digital subscriber line (DSL) customer base grew 122 percent to 1.2 million subscribers, establishing Verizon as the second largest DSL provider in the nation.
Prior to the Bell Atlantic-GTE merger, Pellizzi was president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic Long Distance Business Services where she was responsible for leading the company’s entry into the business long-distance market. As vice president – customer services for the enterprise business market, Pellizzi implemented a new customer service model that improved customer satisfaction results by 10 percent.
Pellizzi was recently named one of Crain’s “Forty Under Forty” and was the recipient of the Year 2000 Leadership Award from the Girl Scouts Council of Greater New York. She has also served as a panel member for the Kidney Transplant Unit at Columbia University where she provided counseling to potential new transplant and donor patients.
Pellizzi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from NJIT and an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
