NJIT Hosts Homecoming Weekend: A Parade, A Bicycle Race, A Barbeque Just Part of the Fun

WHAT: New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) hosts a homecoming weekend for students, alumni, faculty and staff.

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 3 – Sunday, Oct. 5

WHERE: The NJIT Campus, Newark


    * Friday at 8 p.m., NJIT students assemble on the campus green to build floats for the homecoming parade.

    * Saturday at 11:30 a.m., students meet on the green for the homecoming parade, a short loop around campus. There’s a barbecue starting at noon on the green; an NJIT women’s soccer game, noontime, at the soccer field, Warren and Lock Streets; a women’s volley ball game at noon in the gym; and a men’s soccer game at 2 p.m. on the soccer field. Alumni reunions are scheduled throughout the day.

    * Sunday at noon, NJIT students, faculty staff and alumni compete in the annual Tour De Tech Bike Race. Cyclists, in teams of four, will do 50 laps around, and through, the NJIT campus. The winning team will get $500. A barbecue follows.

NJIT, New Jersey's science and technology university, enrolls approximately 10,000 students pursuing bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in 120 programs.
