Nine Students from NJIT Win Top Academic Awards
Nine students from the Newark College of Engineering (NCE) at New Jersey Institute of Technology’s (NJIT) will be honored for academic excellence during the NCE awards banquet held April 8, 2005, at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel.
The awards are given annually by NCE to students who not only excel academically but also contribute to their college in diverse and important ways.
The top academic award – NCE Outstanding Senior – went to Oluwasanmi O. Koyejo, of Irvington. Koyejo was also named Outstanding Senior, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Other winners were Jason J. Viera, Union, Outstanding Senior, Biomedical Engineering award; Filipe Oliveira, Hillside, Outstanding Senior, Otto H. York Department of Chemical Engineering award; Erik C. Vieira, Long Branch, Outstanding Senior, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering award; Robert T. Cook, Montville, Outstanding Senior, Department of Engineering Technology; David Gutierrez, Long Branch, Outstanding Senior, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering award; and Shawn Chester, North Caldwell, Outstanding Senior, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Corina Guishard, Mays Landing, was awarded the Madame Mau Outstanding Female Engineering Student award; and Waqas Mahmood, Paterson, was awarded the Saul K. Fenster Innovation in Design award.
