NJIT Student Team Passes Hurdle to Compete in the DARPA Grand Challenge

A team of students from NJIT is halfway closer to competing in the Grand Challenge, a national race in which driverless vehicles must navigate 175 miles of daunting desert terrain. The race’s sponsor, The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), contacted the students this week, telling them that a report and video they submitted on their unmanned vehicle met with the agency’s stringent qualifications. A total of 95 teams were eliminated, and the NJIT team is one of 100 across the nation still in the contest.
