Monroe Township Resident Edna Shepherd Randolph Receives Outstanding Staff Award at NJIT
Edna Shepherd Randolph, of Monroe Township, received the Outstanding Staff Award at NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering (NCE) 12th Annual Salute to Engineering Excellence on March 26, 2010 at NJIT.
Randolph has worked at NCE Department of Engineering Technology for 38 years, and she is currently the assistant to the chairman of the department of engineering technology. She has both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from NJIT. This department offers students 10 academic options, and Randolph has mastered the curricula, the faculty’s responsibilities and the coordinating responsibilities of the options.
She also has vast knowledge of county college programs through which many students come to NJIT. She knows how to match the students who transfer here into the appropriate options. She is responsible for overseeing and inputting their transfer credits onto the NJIT transcript. And in a department with more than 600 students, of whom more than 70 percent are transfer students, that is a significant task.
Randolph has superior knowledge of the academic programs, the department’s mission and she admirably performs the myriad tasks set before her daily. She possesses an outstanding work ethic and attitude and motivates the students to do well. She also has a talent for recognizing and solving the administrative department needs. She is always available to assist other departments and students or to help the university.
