Classes To Start at NJIT in iPhone Application Development; Underground Storage Tank Regulations; Unix Certification, and Solar Installations
Think NJIT when it’s time to brush up on certification skills. Four non-credit courses in iPhone application development, underground storage tank regulations, online pen Source Unix certification, and Solar Panel Installations will be available from NJIT starting as early as June and throughout the summer. Each course is open to the general public and will help state residents gain skills to seek and keep jobs.
Online iPhone Application Development Course
This non-credit iPhone and iPad application development course, featured in Insidehighered.com and WCAU, Channel 10, Philadelphia is available in both 100 percent online and hybrid sections. Hybrid sections involve some time in class and some time online. Participants will receive a login to the NJIT Apple Developer Program portal and full access to all of the NJIT Apple resources without paying the additional $99 Apple Developer Registration fee required of private developers. Underground Storage Tank Regulation Review Course
The New Jersey Underground Storage Tank (UST) regulations (NJAC 7:14B Subchapter 13) require that all personnel who install, close, test, and design corrosion protection systems for USTs must be certified. Subsurface evaluation certification is needed to evaluate impacts caused by unregulated USTs and UST sites that have discharges associated with them occurring prior to November 4, 2009. All owners/operators of USTs that are removed or closed in-place after November 4th, must retain the services of a Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) to conduct subsurface evaluations and remediation. This UST certification course will summarize existing UST requirements as well as all existing and new NJ Department of Environment Protection implementing statutes and regulations. Online Open Source Unix Certification
The Open Source Unix Certification is a series of 3 classes that will, upon successful completion, result in the awarding of a Certificate of Open Source Unix System Administration. The three classes are: Introduction to Open source Unix, Unix Administration I, Unix Administration II. This class is available continuously (each month). The next class starts June 19, 2010. Solar Panel Installer Training
This is a beginner course in the study of solar photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules, and system components; electrical circuits; PV system design and sizing for use on homes; solar electric products and applications; and understanding energy conversion from sunlight to electricity, and working with solar conversion equipment. This course is based on a model developed by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Photovoltaic (PV) Entry Level Solar Panel Installation Course and will give students the book knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to pass the NABCEP "Entry-level Solar Photovoltaic Certificate of Knowledge" exam.
