Delegation from Zhenjiang in Jiangsu Province, China Visits NJIT
NEWARK, Dec 7 2010
The purpose of the visit was to learn more about NJIT’s efforts in renewable energy – especially the application of thin-film photovoltaic technology that is being jointly advanced with Apollo Solar Energy, Inc. (Chengdu, China) in the Apollo CdTe Solar Energy Research Center led by Ken Chin, PhD, professor in NJIT's Department of Physics. Zhenjiang has a working partnership with the Chinese National Building Material Group Corporation, and its leaders were very interested in learning about the progress that faculty in the School of Architecture and Center for Building Knowledge have made in developing concepts for off-the-grid housing and office facilities that will benefit from the design flexibility offered by next-generation thin-film photovoltaics. Mr. Li formally invited Senior Vice President for Research and Development Don Sebastian and Associate VP Judith Sheft to visit Zhenjiang in the spring to meet with the leaders of the local small business incubator and the technology park leaders to form partnerships that will facilitate moving research into commercial practice each of our regions.
