The first special issue, "Special Issue on Broadband Access Networks," appeared in IEEE Systems Journal (Vol. 4, No. 4, Dec. 2010). It covers advances in both wireline and wireless aspects of broadband access networks ranging from PONs, terabit Ethernet, WiMax, PON-WiMax integration, IMT-Advanced, femtocell, to cognitive radio networks. The second special issue, "Innovative Communications for a Better Future," which appeared in Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (Vol. 10, No. 12, Dec. 2010), covers a broad range of topics of wireless networks, wireless communications, and mobile computing, from the physical layer through application and system design.
