Honors College Library Named To Honor Gilbert W. Glass '41

The Albert Dorman Honors College Library was officially named the Gilbert Glass Library on Jan. 28 in a ceremony on the fourth floor of Fenster Hall. Glass, who received his mechanical engineering degree from NJIT’s Newark College of Engineering in 1941, is a businessman, entrepreneur, engineer, environmentalist, and philanthropist with a long history of generosity to NJIT and its students.  “It’s delightful to see this general feeling of learning, knowing and friendship,” Glass told attendees at the naming ceremony, which included NJIT student beneficiaries of his endowed scholarships. “I’m glad to be part of it.” The library will offer an eclectic collection of publications as well as electronic books and internet access to databases and “mining tools” across the disciplines to support students who are engaged in the Interdisciplinary Design Studio (IDS).
