NJIT mourns the loss of Distinguished Professor Emeritus Stanley B. Winters, a member of the Federated Department of History faculty from 1957 to 1991 who died on Jan. 28 in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was 86. Winters was both a former teacher and close friend of Kenneth Gibson, a graduate of Newark College of Engineering who in 1970 was elected Newark’s first black mayor.
