Phyllis Bolling of Orange, director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (C-CAPS) at NJIT, has been selected to receive the Constance A. Murray Diversity Award at NJIT’s University Convocation, an annual celebration to be held Sept. 14, 2011.

Broadcaster, author and motivational speaker Steve Adubato will speak at the event. Previously, Adubato anchored three PBS broadcasts including Caucus: New Jersey, an Emmy Award-winning public affairs television series.
Bolling’s outstanding contributions to the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services for the past 26 years are commendable. Her commitment to raising awareness about diversity spreads beyond the confines of the NJIT campus as both a diversity delegate for the American Psychological Association and as a board member for the Center for Family Community and Social Justice. She has served students of all nationalities through challenging times during their tenure at NJIT, while also assisting students with varying physical or social handicaps acclimate to the university. It has been noted that she has “concern without borders,” which resounds among her students, staff, and co-workers alike.
