More then 170 companies have registered to attend—a number 40 percent higher than usual. About 100 employers will seek individuals to fill full-time spots. The rest are looking for part-time workers, interns, co-op students and people for summer jobs.

Counselors advise that to be successful at a career fair, students should develop a game plan. Study company websites, decide on 10 or 12 employers to visit and research those employers as much as possible.
Students should remember that they’ll only have a few minutes to talk with each employer. Pitches should be crafted to demonstrate knowledge, confidence and awareness. Employers are impressed with students who have taken the time to learn about their organizations, say counselors. Conversely, they are unimpressed by unprepared students.
In addition to this fair and one in the spring, NJIT’s Career Development Services offer year-round workshops to help students strengthen marketing skills. For more information, please visit http://www.njit.edu/cds/employers/careerfair/partemp.php.
