NEWARK, Oct 18 2011
Andrzej Zarzycki
Andrzej Zarzycki, an assistant professor in NJIT's College of Architecture and Design, recently presented two papers addressing the role of new media, gaming, and mobile on-demand culture. At the eCAADe 2011 Conference “Respecting Fragile Places,” Zarzycki presented a paper, “Mediated Lives,” addressing new dimensions of urban living augmented by mobile devices and media-rich environments. At the regional ACSA Conference “Local Identities/Global Challenges,” Zarzycki co-presented with Professor William Willoughby from Louisiana Tech University a paper, “Augmented Urbanisms: Operating Globally and Gaming Locally in Real and Virtual Cities,” in which the authors discussed new developments in urban guerilla cultures, such as parkour or freerunning, and corresponding attitudes in the massive multiplayer role-playing games (MMRPG) such as Assassin’s Creed or Mirror’s Edge.
