Steel Bridge Team Ranks 15th in Competition

NJIT civil engineering students returned Monday from the 2012 National Steel Bridge Competition at Clemson University.  “Competition was intense, but the NJIT Team had a great showing,” said advisor John Schuring, a professor in the department of civil and environmental engineering.  At the event, the NJIT team achieved an overall ranking of 15th out of 47 competing teams.  The championship is the culmination of earlier regional playoffs which whittled down the original 207 entrants around the nation to the teams who made it to Clemson.  “This is the best that we have done at nationals in many years,” said Schuring.  “Speaking on behalf of the team advisors and the civil engineering department, we are very proud of our students.”
