NJ-HITEC and NJIT will celebrate National Health Information Technology (IT) Week by launching a new health IT initiative at the NJIT Campus Center Atrium on Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about Electronic Health Records (EHRs) by giving the student body of NJIT the opportunity to create their own Personal Health Record. The NJIT Health Care Clinic and Student Health Services serving the 10,000 NJIT students will unveil their new Electronic Health Record, Medicat. The EHR will be linked to Health-e-cITi New Jersey, a Health Information Exchange, connecting all the regional hospitals through a web-based portal platform. The ability to create a Personal Health Record or PHR will provide students with the start of their own comprehensive health record that can be accessed at local hospitals for tests and other healthcare needs. No appointment is necessary and all students and faculty are welcome.
