NJIT To Host Free Forum About Doing Business With the European Union

If you want to learn more about helping your business or company grow in Europe, don’t miss a free one day business forum at NJIT on May 15, 2013, which will detail how to use technology and innovation to do business in the European Union.  Highlights include the 12:15 p.m. keynote address by author Stephen Ezell, a senior analyst with the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, a Washington, DC based think tank.  The foundation promotes public policies to advance technological innovation and productivity internationally.

Breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be available at the all-day event to be held in the NJIT Campus Center Atrium, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.   The NJIT Parking Garage will offer free parking.  Public transportation is available through NJ Transit:  The NJIT/Warren Street light rail station is three stops from Newark Penn Station via the Newark Light Rail.    Registration is required in advance at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GTKEMAY15.

“I think this forum is an excellent opportunity for small businesses as well as corporations to learn how to expand in the European market,” said Judith Sheft, NJIT associate vice president of technology development, who will be one of the speakers.  “We will allow time during the day for networking and encourage people to mix and learn.  This is one of the best ways we know of to expand New Jersey’s economy.  Don’t let this day slip away.” Other speakers will include Camille E. Sailer, president of the European-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and Maria Amelia Paiva, consul general of Portugal, Newark.

Ezell is the co-author with Robert Atkinson, PhD, of Innovation Economics: The Race for Global Advantage (Yale University Press, 2012).  Earlier in his career, Ezell co-founded Peer Insight, an innovation research and consulting firm, to study the practice of innovation in service industries. At Peer Insight,  Ezell led the Global Service Innovation Consortium, published multiple research papers on service innovation, and researched national service innovation policies being implemented by governments worldwide.

Prior to forming Peer Insight, Ezell worked at the NASDAQ Stock Market, where he where he spearheaded the creation of the NASDAQ Market Intelligence Desk and the NASDAQ Corporate Services Network, services for NASDAQ-listed corporations.  He also co-founded two successful innovation ventures, the high-tech services firm Brivo Systems and Lynx Capital, a boutique investment bank. He received a bachelor’s degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, with an honors certificate from Georgetown’s Landegger International Business Diplomacy program.

Event sponsors are the Center for European Studies at Rutgers University and the European-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.  The business forums are funded by a grant from the delegation of the European Union to the U.S.  This is the second grant received by the Center for European Studies in partnership with the European-American Chamber of Commerce of NJ.
