Ronald H. Rockland, PhD, is associate dean of the Newark College of Engineering and an associate professor in the department of engineering technology at New Jersey Institute of Technology.  He also holds a joint appointment in the department of biomedical engineering, and his current research area is in cardiovascular signal analysis. Prior to joining NJIT, Rockland spent 25 years in high-tech industries including advanced work in pacemakers.

His career has included work in research, engineering, marketing and sales management for health giants that include Medtronic, Inc., the leading pacemaker company, and Picker International. Locally, he spent three years at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in the pacemaker clinic.

Rockland holds five patents and has published more than 40 journal and conference papers in medical and educational fields. In 2005 Rockland received an award from the New Jersey Association for Biomedical Research. The award is dedicated to improving human and animal health through biomedical research.  He has also won a national award in teaching.

Rockland received the NJIT Excellence in Service Award in 2007. The award is presented in recognition of a sustained record of contributions that have enhanced the reputation of NJIT.

He received his bachelor’s and master's degrees in electrical engineering and his doctorate in biomedical engineering from New York University and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas.
