Ma, who received his BS in computer engineering in 2007, recently entered and won a contest that was hosted by Snaptic and Hopelab, and also sponsored by TEDPrize; the challenge was to build an android application that promotes movement. Ma's "Earn the Stars" mobile application is a merit-based tool for educating, motivating, recognizing and rewarding children to make good choices about nutrition and participating in physical activities. "We made sure to highlight that nutrition and sports are the key," says Ma, a former captain of the NJIT men's soccer team.

Edmund H. It was one of the part-time jobs he had while studying mechanical engineering. Hecht also worked in the college bookstore and on the switchboard. In more recent years, he’s returned to the classroom as a teacher ― sharing a wide range of knowledge at colleges in Texas and as a Fulbright Scholar in Ukraine.

And it’s all thanks to the role played by NJIT alum Arthur Hahn, formerly of Matawan and Edison, in the introduction of this indispensable innovation.  For this body of work, Hahn received on May 22, 2010, the NJIT Alumni Achievement Award.   Hahn now lives in San Diego.

Fortunately, Rinaldi has not turned into a menace to society, Vivere provided the set for the forthcoming television season opener of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. As Rinaldi tells it, “The story line is an odd one: The boat’s owner wants to hunt pirates off the coast of Somalia. Staten Island plays the part of Somalia and my yacht, Vivere—which means “to live”—was chosen by L&O to portray this questionable adventure. Vivere spends a lot of time cruising around Manhattan and docking at Chelsea Piers where Law & Order studios are located, it did not take Law & Order's scouts long to spy Vivere. Hence, she would temporarily abandon her gentle and sybaritic life to become a pirate hunter. The producers outfitted the yacht with turret-mounted machine guns, AK 47s, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and a bevy of bikini-clad girls. Maher recently published Nature's New Deal: The Civilian Conservation Corps and the Roots of the American Environmental Movement (Oxford University Press, 2008) and is currently researching and writing an environmental history of the space race during the 1960s and 1970s.
